It’s not your job to make anyone happy. Some will be. Some won’t be. Make yourself happy and share that happiness with the ones that matter.
It isn’t about being selfish. Being selfish, in the long term, would definitely not make you happy. It is about realizing that you cannot MAKE anyone happy except yourself. It’s about finding out what brings you joy, what gives your life purpose. Do what you were born to do and share it those around you.
You choose to be happy. It is a choice. One you must make again and again in every moment. Others will choose for themselves. You cannot make them choose joy.
When you are treating yourself and others with love, respect and fairness, when you are discovering what inspires you and sharing that with others, you will bring happiness to their lives. What they choose to do with that is up to them. You will sleep well.
